WESTPORT — An employee of a local store is accused of stealing cash and a credit card from a co-worker, and then running up personal charges on the stolen card.

Priscilla Vongkeomany, 18, of Bridgeport, is charged with sixth-degree larceny and payment card theft in connection with the incident.

Police were called last Sept. 14 to a local store — unidentified in the report — where an employee reported that money and a credit card were stolen from her wallet.

The stolen credit card, police were told, subsequently had been used to make purchases in Stamford.

The store manager reviewed video footage recorded by its surveillance camera, police said, which reportedly showed  Vongkeomany “rummaging” through a fellow employee’s purse on the date of the theft.

Vongkeomany, in a later interview with police, reportedly “admitted to stealing the items from her co-worker,” according to the report.

A warrant for Vongkeomany’s arrest was issued, and she was taken into custody March 5 by Danbury police and turned over to Westport officers.

She was released after posting $500 bond, and is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges March 15 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
