WESTPORT–The town’s annual Halloween Parade, which started at least 16 years ago, is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the corner of Main Street and Post Road East. The rain date is Thursday.
Parade participants will walk up Main Street, turn right onto Avery Place, and then left onto Myrtle Avenue to Town Hall Green and Veterans Green, where entertainment, refreshments and a small gift will be provided.
Because the town expects hundreds of participants, the following roads will be closed at the following times:
- Main Street from Post Road East to Avery Place at 2:30 p.m.
- Avery Place at 3 p.m.
- Myrtle Avenue from Evergreen Avenue to Main Street at 3 p.m.
All roads are scheduled to reopen by 6 p.m., and residents who want to vote early can access Town Hall during hours when roads are closed.
Motorists should expect delays downtown due to the road closures and should be extra cautious driving downtown, according to the town’s Police Department.
No parking on the parade route will be in effect from 2 to 4 p.m.
The forecast for Wednesday is currently partly cloudy. For weather updates, call 203-341-5074.
The parade is sponsored by the town’s Parks and Recreation Department, the Downtown Merchants Association and Westport’s Police Athletic League.
