WESTPORT–The annual Chappa Invitational took place at Longshore Golf Course on Thursday, and the host Wreckers had a strong showing against top competitors from 29 competing schools — 15 from the FCIAC plus 14 others from around the state.

Danbury won in a one-hole playoff versus Darien; both finished with a score of 63. A pair of top tandems from Staples teams tied for seventh, each shooting a three under, 66. Each school fielded two tandems but Staples brought five teams of two golfers for this best ball, stroke play tournament to fill out the field due to other teams dropping out.

The Wreckers were led by Evan Sealove and James Moneyhon who carded six birdies and Justin Goldshore and Jordan Benaderet as Benaderet notched an eagle on the seventh hole.  Also representing Staples, Henry O’Keefe and Trenton Armstrong had a 70 (+1), and tied for 19th; Brody Kadushin and Cam Benton had a 73 (+4) and tied for 34; and Keegan Dolan and Blake Hofmeister shot a 75 (+6) to tie for 40th.
