RIDGEFIELD — The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum will debut an ambitious new effort this weekend, bringing together dozens of artists in a display whose theme is set to recur every decade.
Aldrich Decennial: I am what is all around me will open on Sunday, June 7th. The exhibition features an intergenerational group of 40 artists who have never had a solo museum exhibition in Connecticut, and will be on view through January 10th, 2027.
The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum notes how Connecticut has long attracted artists who have sought to escape the pressure and expenses of major metropolitan areas in the region, namely Boston and New York. Museum staffers visited more than 100 studios in their preparation for the exhibition to better understand the current artistic scene in the state.
The first iteration of the Aldrich Decennial was conceived of by Amy Smith-Stewart, the museum’s Diana Bowes Chief Curator. The exhibition is curated by Smith-Stewart and Publications Manager Caitlin Monachino.
