WESTPORT — The No. 11 Staples baseball team blanked No. 22 Manchester 9-0 in the Class LL State Tournament’s first round on Monday; the Wreckers will visit No. 6 Hall of West Hartford in the second round on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Staples did all of its scoring early with a first-inning two-out run batted in by Mark Kelly and four spots in each the second and third innings.

Jules Cicero homered as part of a four-hit, six-RBI day to lead the charge at the plate; Cicero also scored three times. Kelly and Vincent Vega both doubled. Chase Landgraf and Kelly both delivered a pair of knocks.

Cole Landgraf pitched 4 and 2/3 innings, walking three and striking out six.
