FAIRFIELD — Staples football left no doubts, scoring early and often en route to a 49-13 win at Fairfield Warde on Friday night. The Wreckers, coming off a loss to Wilton, improved to 5-1 overall.

Staples jumped out to a 28-0 lead at halftime and pulled ahead 35-0 going to the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Nick Weil completed 12 of 25 pass attempts for 141 yards and three touchdowns. 

Charlie Clarke had five catches for 51 yards and a TD and a 53-yard punt return for a score.

Chaz Darby scored a trio of TDs. He rushed 13 times for 65 yards and a pair of scores and had a TD reception.

Jake McGeehan had three catches for 59 yards and a touchdown.

Staples is back home on Saturday, Nov. 1 to entertain St. Joseph of Trumbull at 11 a.m.
