DARIEN — Staples High’s boys basketball team rolled to a 61-45 victory over Darien on Tuesday.

Sam Clachko was a scoring machine with 30 points, a dozen of which came on 3-pointers. Clachko was the only Wrecker to hit double figures, but had help from six teammates.

Nick Sikorski made a pair of 3-pointers and finished with nine points. Austin Heyer and Mason Tobias both scored six.

Adam Udell scored five, Dhilan Lowman added three and Charlie Bowman chipped in with two.

Staples jumped ahead early and never looked back. The Wreckers led 20-9 after one quarter and 31-21 at the half.

They built a 47-31 lead through three quarters.

The Wreckers are home at 7 p.m. Friday to take on Greenwich. That will be a special “Pink Out!” night in support of Pink Aid, which helps families battling breast cancer. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
