FAIRFIELD — Staples High boys basketball team defeated host Fairfield Warde 57-43 on Tuesday night.

Sam Clachko racked up 30 points to lead the offense. Adam Udell scored 13 and Mason Tobias added six.

The Wreckers and Mustangs were even at 13 after one quarter of play. Staples pulled ahead 29-23 at the half and carried a 44-37 lead into the fourth before putting the game away.

With the win, the Wreckers improved to 10-4 overall and 7-3 in FCIAC action. 

Staples returns to the court for a 7 p.m. Friday visit to Fairfield Ludlowe. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
