WESTPORT — The Staples boys tennis team, the No. 5 seed in the Class LL State Tournament, defeated No. 12 Hamden 7-0 in the first round last Friday.

With the win, the Wreckers host familiar foe, FCIAC rival Trumbull, in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Trumbull, the tourney’s No. 13 seed, defeated No. 4 East Hartford to set up this all-FCIAC clash. 

Staples beat Trumbull 5-2 in the regular-season meeting.
