WESTPORT — Heavy traffic, of the two-wheel variety, is expected Sunday on local streets.

Cyclists participating in this year’s “Bloomin’ Metric” bicycle tours will hit the streets, following four routes from 25 to 100 kilometers, starting about 7 a.m. Sunday, May 21, from Sherwood Island State Park. The event is organized by the Sound Cyclists Bicycle Club.

The Police Department, in a traffic advisory, says motor vehicle drivers should expect a “significant amount of bicyclists” on local roads through Sunday afternoon.
