WESTPORT — Staples girls golf team won three matches in four days, all at Longshore Golf Course, last week. 

The Wreckers improved to 7-1 this spring.

Last Thursday’s 202-208 win over Ridgefield was preceded by Tuesday’s 201-257 victory over Danbury and a 189-197 win over Wilton the day before.

Senior captain Rachel Pontoriero was medalist with 47 in both the Ridgefield and Danbury matches; senior captain Lauren Clementi shot a 6 over par 44 from the back tees as medalist versus Wilton.

Adding to victories were balanced efforts by Aviva Ross, Katelynn Mitchell and Eliza Wadley.

Pontoriero carded birdies in each match, but Clementi’s birdie versus Wilton kept her as the leader of the team’s season-long birdie completion. Mitchell also has a birdie in the Wilton match.

Staples travels to Fairfield Ludlowe at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday, and hosts Trumbull at 3 p.m. Thursday. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
