TRUMBULL–Following four straight wins, the Staples Wreckers traveled to Trumbull Monday with great confidence to face the St. Joseph Cadets. MaxPreps had the Wreckers favored for a win.

Urged on by a boisterous and noisy home team crowd, the Cadets got out to an early lead. The Wreckers managed to cut the Cadet lead down to six points by the end of the first half.

Despite junior Chris Zajac’s 22 points, the Wreckers could not keep the Cadets from maintaining the lead throughout the game. St Joseph took the game, 76-71.

The Wreckers next play Norwalk at home this evening at 7 p.m.
