
WESTPORT — Staples girls tennis improved to a 10-1 record with three wins in four days last week after rain washed out a series of earlier matches.
The Wreckers beat host Bridgeport Central 7-0 May 7, visiting Danbury 6-1 the next day and visiting Trumbull 7-0 Saturday.
They have won five matches with a 7-0 dominating outcome and four more by 6-1 scores.
Against Trumbull, singles winners were Amelia Berkowitz, 6-0, 6-3; Olivia Lazar, 6-0, 6-2; Sadie Yanks, 6-2, 6-1, and Aanya Gandhi, 6-0, 6-0.
Doubles winners were Lola Lamensdorf and Isabel Alfageme, 6-0. 6-2; Maddie Hendley and Emma Kantor, 6-1, 6-0, and Devyn Peffer and Dylan Lehrer 6-0, 6-1.
Against Danbury, Staples earned wins at second through fourth singles: Berkowitz, 6-1, 6-0; Yanks, 6-3, 6-4, and Azita Vazhayil, 6-4, 6-0. Doubles winners were Alfageme and Rachel Guzman, 6-3, 6-2; Kantor and Hendley 6-0, 6-1, and Lehrer and Peffer, 6-0, 6-2.
