WESTPORT — Unbeaten in its first dozen games this season, the Staples girls soccer team suffered its first defeat Wednesday.
In a battle between the FCIAC’s West Division-leading Wreckers (11-0-1) and the East Division’s best, St. Joseph of Trumbull, the Wreckers fell 4-1 on the road.
The Wreckers were coming off home wins, 1-0 over Trumbull last Friday and 5-1 over Danbury on Monday.
In the victory over Trumbull, Natalie Chudowsky had the lone goal.
Annabel Edwards scored two goals in the victory over Danbury, and Chudowsky, Katie Fitzgerald and Maddy Johnson also scored. Fitzgerald had a pair of assists and Sadie Katzner, Edwards and Taylor Lunney recorded assists.
The Wreckers, following the St. Joseph game, have nearly a week off before their next game, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Westhill of Stamford. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest updates.)
