GREENWICH — Challenging games have been few and far between for the Staples High field hockey team, although a difficult schedule down the stretch has the Wreckers proving just how good they are.

Staples (13-0 in FIAC play) blanked host Greenwich 2-0 Wednesday to remain unbeaten in conference play, and handed the Cardinals just their third loss in 13 FCIAC games this fall.

Sofia Fidalgo and Storey Ahl scored, and Tyla Ozgen and Emma Larit had assists.

The Wreckers followed up 5-2 wins over both Wilton and Darien last week with an 11-1 victory Monday over the host Danbury Hatters.

Against Danbury, Oakley Wilson scored three times and Larit added two goals. Ella Ledenko, Catherine Cirasuolo, Mary Stevens, Lucy Hill, Ozgen and Larit also found the back of the cage.

Ledenko, Daisy Hackett and Emma and Leah Larit had assists.

Staples hosts Fairfield Ludlowe in the regular-season finale at 4 p.m. next Monday. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest updates.)

Ludlowe carries an 11-2 conference mark into Friday’s clash with St. Joseph of Trumbull.
