WESTPORT — Staples boys tennis, the No. 3 seed, defeated visiting No. 6 Wilton, winning all of its matches in the FCIAC Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Top singles player Alekos Vergakis won 6-2, 6-4, No. 3 Sebastian Elizondo won 6-0, 6-0 and No. 4 Andrew Ridloff came out on top 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. In doubles play, the top tandem of Kieran Anand and Jonny Greenspan won 6-2, 6-0. 

Three other matches were in progress when the match became official. No. 2 Robert Jacob battled back from a first-set loss in a match that was scored 5-7, 6-2, 3-3. The No. 2 doubles team of Jack McAuley and Micah Turner led 4-6, 7-6, 3-2. The No. 3 tandem of Nick Trinchi and Aaron Fortunoff led 6-2, 5-3.

Staples visits No. 2 Greenwich in the semis on Monday at 4 p.m.
