TRUMBULL–Nick Sikorski saved a penalty kick, and two very difficult shots at Trumbull last night.
But all three rebounds landed at the feet of Eagles players. They cashed in on the caroms, en route to a 4-1 victory. The win lifts Trumbull to 9-0-0, while the Wreckers fall to 3-5-1.

It was another strong performance for Staples, without a good result. They went toe-to-toe with the FCIAC league leaders for much of the match, and gained momentum after Avery Mueller’s free kick slithered through a pack of legs in the penalty area to cut the margin to 3-1. A late strike iced the game for the hosts.

The Wreckers return to action Monday, at Wakeman Field against Stamford. Game time is 4 p.m.
