RYE, N.Y. — Make it two for two. A pair of games and a couple of 10-goal outbursts — and wins — have launched the season for the Staples High boys lacrosse team.

The Wreckers beat their Rye, N.Y., hosts, 10-6, on Saturday, following a 10-5 win over Iona Prep a week earlier.

Sam Eigen netted three goals and Adam Udell notched a trio of assists. Ben Burmeister and Mike Nealon both had two net-finders, and Tyler Clark and Cam April each added a goal and an assist. Gavin Rothenberg also scored and Tristan Schaefer and Jay Anastasi both logged assists.

Staples was dominant in draw controls as Cisco Celotto won six of nine faceoffs and Anastasi won all of his 10 faceoffs.

Goaltender Scott Kosakowski made nine saves.

The Wreckers are scheduled to play their first FCIAC contest at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, with a visit to Fairfield Warde.
