SOUTHBURY — Doubling back to Southbury for day two of the Pomperaug Holiday Tournament, Staples boys basketball team made Saturday’s return trip well worthwhile.

The Wreckers doubled up the hosts 82-41 in the tourney championship clash.

Staples stole the show with 14 steals while turning the ball over just four times.

Sam Clachko scored 23 points and also had a trio of assists, three rebounds and a pair of those steals.

Mason Tobias had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal. Adam Udell also logged 11 points to go along with seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. Kyle Dulak and Dhilan Lowman both had nine points. Matthew Corrigan had six rebounds and four blocks to go along with two points.
