WESTPORT–Host and No. 12 Staples girls soccer blanked No. 21 Danbury 2-0 in the first round of the Class LL State Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Wreckers will travel to Newtown to take on the No. 5 Nighthawks in the second round Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Against Danbury, a familiar foe from the FCIAC, Willa Shamie and Alexa Van Aken scored and Van Aken and Reily Gullans notched assists.
