NORWALK–In baseball, it’s called a perfect game: the defense records 27 consecutive outs without allowing the opponents the opportunity to score a run.
Field hockey nomenclature hasn’t come up with a term for when the defense doesn’t allow a single “shot on goal,” one that needs to be stopped, trapped or deflected before crossing the goal line.
Regardless of what you call it, the Wreckers dominated McMahon offensively and defensively yesterday. Staples took 24 shots on goal, compared to McMahon’s zero.
Six Wreckers shots made it into the net: two by Sofia Fidalgo, two by Tyla Ozgen and one each by Charlotte Strange and Riley Chlupsa.
Staples next hosts Danbury Friday at 2:30 p.m.
