WESTPORT–Another game. Another win. And yet another lopsided outcome.

Staples boys basketball beat up on visiting Wilton 76-50 on Wednesday, improving to 7-0 in FCIAC play and 11-0 overall. The Wreckers are tied with Trumbull atop the conference standings.

All of the Wrecker games have been decided convincingly, by double digits. They led the Warriors 17-11 after one quarter and 39-25 at halftime. Staples hit 15 shots from 3-point land.

Mason Tobias led the way with 20 points, draining a pair of 3-pointers, five assists and eight rebounds.

Sam Clachko logged a double-double with 16 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds and a steal. Clachko hit four 3-pointers.

Austin Heyer scored a baker’s dozen to go along with three assists, a pair of rebounds and four steals.

Henry Veissid recorded nine points on a trio of 3-pointers to go along with four rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal.

Dhilan Lowman had eight points, knocking down a pair from behind the arc, and had three rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Staples is at Fairfield Warde (6-6 overall, 4-3 in FCIAC play) Friday and visits Fairfield Ludlowe (currently 10-2, 6-1) in what looks like a competitive matchup Tuesday; both games tip off at 7 p.m. 

Looking ahead, the Wreckers visit Bridgeport Central (6-5, 2-5) Friday, Feb. 6 and host Trumbull in a big matchup Tuesday, Feb. 10; both also at 7.
