WESTPORT–The Building Department has issued a permit to demolish the structure at 19 Treadwell Avenue.
The 2-story Colonial was built in 1924. It has 2,200-square-feet of living space, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a basement area, an open porch, a wooden porch, a finished upper story and a finished attic.
The property traded hands in June for $850,000. It had previously traded for $637,500 in 2000. The property’s current assessment is $560,800.
Treadwell Avenue connects Riverside Avenue to Kings Highway N.

Another sweet, vintage house bites the dust. Let me guess – the applicant has a name that begins with the street address and ends in LLC. The footprint of this house will become supersized and will support a slightly rearranged clone of every other spec-built house displayed in the developer’s catalog. Westport’s housing stock is becoming a repetitive bore. Oh, I know, someone will buy the newly-built, 2 million dollar house. But someone else won’t ever get the chance to buy the less expensive, perfectly decent house that once sat comfortably there.
