WESTPORT — What might be the town’s priciest condo complex gave people a sneak peek of its progress Thursday afternoon.
Bankside House, a 12-unit development nearing completion on the west bank of the Saugatuck River, offers units from $2.6 million and north.
Cranes and other heavy machinery surrounded the structures, and construction dust powdered the staircase handrails (elevators not yet in service).

On the second floor, people sipping margaritas and snacking on tacos mingled, most standing on subflooring, some parking their bottoms on a flat of plaster board, at the open house.
Rafters, studs and all kinds of utilities roughed in were visible.
The food was very good, but the view was clearly the main attraction.
“Just wait till sunset,” one woman said as a group gazed out the floor-to-ceiling windows.
A floor above, units closer were closer to completion.
Under the town’s affordable housing guidelines, Bankside will provide affordable housing, equivalent to 20 percent of the Wilton Road development, offsite, at 44 Church Lane.
