Editor’s note: following is an opinion submitted by Westport resident Bobbi Essagoff.

I am honored to endorse Sal Liccione for re-election to Westport’s RTM, District 9. Sal stands out for his integrity and his hands-on approach to representing our community.

Sal is capable, diligent, and reliable. Living in the heart of downtown, he’s often seen walking or biking, talking with shopkeepers and residents. He listens carefully and discusses issues with constituents before casting his vote — exactly what an RTM member should do.

Sal also speaks truth to power. In 2022, he was the only RTM member to vote “no” on The Hamlet project — not because it was the easy choice, but because it was the right one. He recognized that the lack of on-site affordable housing, public safety concerns, and increased traffic were not in Westport’s best interest. He stood up to peer pressure and voted with courage and conviction for the people of District 9 and for all of Westport.

The RTM is the legislative body for our town, and we need independent, thoughtful voices like Sal’s. He is approachable, responsive, and deeply committed to serving his constituents.

Sal Liccione is exactly the kind of representative Westport needs.

Local politics directly impact our daily lives. Please make your voice heard — vote early beginning October 20 at Town Hall or on Election Day, November 4, at your district polling place.
