Editor’s note: following is an opinion submitted by Westport resident Elisa Mula.
In today’s polarized political climate, David Rosenwaks stands out as a beacon of hope for Westport. Running for First Selectman, David transcends the typical partisan divide, offering a refreshing blend of common sense and family values deeply resonant with our community.
I met David during his RTM campaign and was immediately impressed by his authenticity. As a parent committed to building a secure environment for our children, David answers concerns with genuine, down-to-earth responses. This approach reflects not only his empathy but his shared experience as a fellow parent.
Having spent over seven years in Westport, I’ve often reached out to legislators about issues impacting my family. Sadly, I’ve encountered representatives fixated more on party agendas than on residents’ voices. One interaction, in particular, revealed a local official dismissively stating that a law would pass despite opposition, which shattered my trust in our political system.
David has restored my faith. Unlike many, he consistently champions the concerns of parents and the wider community, showing up to support local nonprofits and individuals alike, even outside of a campaign context. His actions speak louder than promises.
He exemplifies what politics should be: compassionate, sensible, and focused on serving constituents. David’s dedication is evident in his commitment to raising the community’s welfare above partisan interests. His leadership embodies integrity and unyielding support for our town’s needs.
As election day nears, Westport faces a pivotal choice. Electing David Rosenwaks is not just selecting a candidate; it’s embracing a brighter vision of accountable, empathetic leadership. David deserves our support for his relentless advocacy and genuine care for our community’s future. Let’s back him as he has unwaveringly backed us.

Thank you, Elisa, for an uplifting endorsement of a person who exemplifies the best our town has to offer. Yes, I want David Rosenwaks to be the face of Westport, the voice of Westport, and the future of Westport. His vitality and his commitment to do his best for the people of Westport will carry us through many challenges ahead. VOTE FOR DAVID ROSENWAKS!
“Relentless advocacy” ? This is a guy who, having been elected to represent his district on the RTM, never once stood up at the podium to address a single issue. Not once. I think we can and should expect more from our elected leaders.
He seems nice enough but doesn’t have very much experience.
A very nice guy indeed. Evan and Philip spot on, David Rosenwaks in 22 months never spoke up at one RTM meeting, RTM Committee Meeting. Long Lots Building Committee Meeting, etc.
The fact that Mr. Rosenwaks never spoke up for a new Long Lots Elementary publicly in his own district should be enough to tell you that he lacks the ability to face confrontational debate, and take a stand on hot button issues in our community.
This lack of “transparency, voice, and independent” campaign hoopla is laughable. Forward Party, Independent Party…..all this less than 4 months after being deeply rooted in our Westport Democratic Town Committee.
The fact is, David didn’t get the nomination from the DTC, didn’t have the juice of DTC members to primary. Now he says he is independent?
If he was always and independent thinker, why them didn’t he use the non partisan RTM to use his independent voice ONCE, as all our debates are WESTPORT, not Democratic or Republican?
Yes, David Rosenwaks is a nice guy. Guess What? So is Don O’Day and Kevin Christie.

Says the guy whose party nominated a candidate who claims he is not a Republican and who previously endorsed a Republican when he failed to be chosen for the Democratic nomination? Help me to understand your logic, Jimmy.
