WESTPORT — The driver of one of two trucks involved in a serious crash on Roseville Road last week was at fault in the incident that shut down the busy street for about six hours, according to police.

The driver of a “roll-off” dumpster-hauling truck owned by A.B. Carting, which flipped onto its side in the Sept. 26 accident, was issued a traffic infraction for failure to drive in the proper lane, a police spokesman said this week.

Three people were hospitalized in the aftermath of the crash between the larger carting vehicle and a Burns Construction truck, which took place about 6:15 a.m. Sept. 26 on Roseville Road, near Colony Road.

One of three occupants in the smaller truck, which suffered heavy front-end damage, had to be extricated from the wreck by firefighters. The collision also sprung a diesel fuel leak from the carting hauler, requiring cleanup by fire crews and personnel from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
