WESTPORT — A 38-year-old man is accused of hiding a camera in the bathroom of a shared apartment to make secret video recordings of a roommate.

Albert Steven Bermudez-Ocampo, of Westport, was charged April 17 with voyeurism.

The charge was filed after police began investigating an April 2 complaint from the resident of a local apartment who shared the premises with Bermudez Ocampo, alleging that a camera was hidden in a bathroom  and “that it had captured videos of [the complainant] using the bathroom without their knowledge or permission,” according to the report.

Police investigators, using search warrants and witness interviews, identified Bermudez-Ocampo as the person suspected of installing the camera.

A warrant fot his arrest was issued, and he was taken into custody April 17 at his residence.

Bermudez-Ocampo was booked at Police Department headquarters, and later released after posting $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned May 2 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
