WESTPORT — A 52-year-old man has been arrested after police said he vandalized a car parked in the Saugatuck Railroad Station parking lot in late September.
Dominic Demace, of Westport, was charged with first-degree criminal mischief in connection with the incident.
A woman complained to police that she had parked at the rail depot the morning of Sept. 29, and when she returned that afternoon, said she found “a scratch as well as dents on the car’s right rear passenger door,” according to the police report.
The officer investigating the complaint reviewed video surveillance footage of the parking lot, and saw a man standing near the woman’s car holding what appeared to be “a tire iron,” police said.
The officer was able to identify the man as Demace, according to the report, and Demace reportedly later admitted to damaging the car.
A warrant for Demace’s arrest was issued, and he turned himself in Oct. 25 at Police Department headquarters. He was released after posting $15,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 22 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
