WESTPORT — A 25-year-old man was charged with impaired driving last week after police said he passed out in his car, which then stopped in the middle of Red Coat Road.
Miles Fairy, of Redding, was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol in connection with the June 16 incident.
An officer was dispatched about 5 a.m. June 16 to investigate a report that a vehicle was stopped in the middle of Red Coat Road, with a driver who appeared unresponsive.
At the scene, the officer was able to awaken the driver, who police identified as Fairy.
The officer, according to the report, observed that Fairy was “disoriented and appeared to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage or some other intoxicant.”
Fairy agreed to a field sobriety test, police said, but was unable to perform the test to standards.
He was arrested on the charge of operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and later released after posting $500 bond.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charge June 27 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
