WESTPORT — A Bridgeport man has been charged with stealing local business checks and cashing them for more than $5,000.

Marvin Morales-Pablo, 19, was charged Jan. 8 with third-degree larceny and third-degree identity theft.

Police received a complaint last Oct. 20 that more than $5,600 worth of checks had been cashed fraudulently against a local business account. Using search warrants and ATM surveillance, police said they were able to identify Morales-Pablo as the suspect.

He was arrested Jan. 8 at his Bridgeport residence and transported to local Police Department headquarters where he was charged and held on $100,000 bond. Morales-Pablo was taken the next day to be arraigned at state Superior Court in Stamford.
