WESTPORT — A Bridgeport man has been charged with breaking into a local restaurant and stealing money.

Angel Hernandez, 54, was charged March 6 with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and first-degree criminal mischief in connection with the incident.

A break-in was reported at the Little Kitchen, 423 Post Road East, last May 26. A rear door of the restaurant was forced open, police said, and about $800 was reported stolen.

Using recordings of video surveillance, as well as digital forensic evidence and search warrant, police investigators identified Angel Hernandez as the suspect, according to the report.

A warrant for Hernandez’s arrest was issued, and he was taken into custody March 6.

Hernandez was held after being unable to post $25,000 bond, police said, and was taken the next day for arraignment at state Superior Court in Stamford.
