WESTPORT — A 62-year-old homeless man, reported missing after not being seen since Monday, was found “safe and sound,” police said Friday morning.

William Hill became the subject of a missing person investigation, police said in statement issued late Thursday, after a friend reported he had not been seen for several days.

Police said at the time because of severely cold weather there was urgent concern about Hill’s welfare.

Although Hill avoids homeless shelters, police said he generally stays in Westport. He pays daily visits to friends who live at the Sasco Creek Village apartment complex at 1655 Post Road East, according to the report.
