WESTPORT — A 39-year-old man faces probation, drug and motor vehicle charges after a traffic stop last week.
Nicholas Smith, of Shelton, was stopped by an officer on the evening of Nov. 2 for failing to properly display the license plate of the vehicle he was driving, police said.
During the traffic stop, police said they learned there was an active warrant for Smith’s arrest for violating probation.
Smith also allegedly told the officer that he had prescription medications in his possession, but it was discovered the pills were not secured in the proper container as required.
He was taken into custody Nov. 9 and charged with violation of probation, possession of narcotics — original container, misuse of a registration plate, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, insufficient insurance and failure to display a registration plate.
Smith was held on $51,000 bond and transported for arraignment to state Superior Court in Stamford.
