WESTPORT — A 39-year-old man was charged with public indecency this week after he exposed himself to underage girls on lower Main Street, police said.

Pema Tamang, who police said is homeless, was taken into custody shortly after the incident was reported at about 7 p.m. June 5.

In addition to the charge of public indecency, he was charged with three counts of risk of injury to a child.

Police were dispatched to check a complaint from a shop on lower Main Street that a man — later identified as Tamang — had exposed his genitals while staring at a group of three girls under the age of 16.

Tamang was detained a short time later, and denied the allegations, police said.

But, according to the report, his “pants were still down” at the time he was detained.

Tamang, after being taken into custody and formally charged, was held on $10,000 bond. He was taken the next day for arraignment at state Superior Court in Stamford.
