WESTPORT — A two-vehicle crash took place at one of the town’s most dangerous intersections Tuesday evening.

The collision at Cross Highway and North Avenue was reported in a brief post on the Fire Department’s Facebook page.

The accident caused unspecified “injuries,” according to the post.

Additional information about the incident was not immediately available.

The stretch of Cross Highway, between North Avenue and Bayberry Lane, has been called the “most dangerous” in town by officials.

The perilous corridor, where more than 20 crashes have been reported over the last several years, is being studied by a contractor hired by the town last year to conduct a survey of the problems and propose remedial solutions.

Final approval of the $285,000 contract, plus contingency, with the consulting firm, Tighe & Bond, was granted by the Board of Selectwomen last September.

An update on the project was presented at a public-information session in March.

A series of proposed safety upgrades remains under review for the area.
