WESTPORT–On April 15, and updated on May 30, Westport Journal published an article regarding the arrest of Brett Cohen for “planting an electronic device in a partner’s car.”
The article–since removed from westportjournal.com–was based on the Westport Police Department’s weekly Custodial Arrest Synopsis. The synopsis stated that the offense was “Electronic Stalking of a Domestic Partner.”
We are informed by the Westport PD that the synopsis incorrectly described the arrest and that there was not then, nor is there now, an alleged offense against “a domestic partner.”
We are informed by Mr. Cohen’s attorney that the felony charge has been dropped and that the resolution of a misdemeanor charge is anticipated. Westport Journal retracts any suggestion that this matter involves a “domestic partner” and regrets the error.
