WESTPORT–Maybe ordering a DoorDash delivery wasn’t the swiftest move.
A Meriden teenager has been arrested in Westport after allegedly using a stolen credit card to order $67.67 in Dunkin’ Donuts goodies to be brought by DoorDash – to his home.
William Torres, 18, turned himself in at Westport Police headquarters on a warrant accusing him of making or attempting multiple transactions – including the food delivery – with two stolen credit cards. The successful charges amounted to less than $500, according to a police account.
A Westport couple reported the theft of a wallet with the cards from a car in their garage on Oct. 21, 2025. The garage and two cars inside had been left unlocked, police said.
Using search warrants, police traced the transactions that led to Torres.
Torres is charged with third-degree identity theft, which is a felony, and three misdemeanors: sixth-degree larceny, theft of a payment card and charging less than $500 on a stolen or revoked payment card. His bond was set by the court at $50,000. He was able to post a $50,000 bond and was released. He is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Stamford on Friday, Feb. 27.
