WESTPORT–An employee of Brooks Brothers at 136 Main St. was arrested Jan. 21 after allegedly stealing $20,000 from the clothing store with fraudulent no-receipt returns credited to gift cards and a debit card, Westport police said.

Jacqui Lavalle-Williams, 36, of Hamden, Connecticut was one of two employees allegedly using fraudulent transactions to steal. The case remains open “in anticipation of an additional arrest,” police said in an announcement.

An asset protection group contracted by Brooks Brothers alerted police to the suspicious activity on Oct. 22, 2025, police said.

On Jan. 21, Lavalle-Williams’s parole officer brought him to police headquarters, where he was charged with first-degree larceny and first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, both felonies. He was unable to post $50,000 bond, and also was remanded into custody of the Department of Correction for a parole violation. He is next due in Superior Court in Stamford on March 24.
