WESTPORT — A Christmas tree burst into flames at a local home Monday evening, but firefighters were able to quickly contain the blaze before it spread.
No injuries to residents of the home were reported, according to a post on the Fire Department’s Facebook page, although an EMS crew was dispatched to the scene for support.
Location of the home was not immediately available.
Firefighters were able prevent the fire from spreading beyond the room where the tree ignited, according to the report, and later performed “salvage and overhaul operations” at the scene.
The incident is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
