To the editor:

Having family in Connecticut, I was very happy to read that the Holy Bible used at George Washington’s oath of office ceremony will be displayed Saturday on the occasion of the bicentennial of Temple Masonic Lodge No. 65.

I am a fifth-generation Freemason myself, and I have seen the Washington Inaugural Bible when it was on display in Arkansas some years ago.

It was a sight to behold the open book and see where George Washington placed his right hand on Chapters 49 and 50 of Genesis.

That Holy Bible is carefully escorted by Masons from New York wherever it goes. Its appearance is truly a rarity and worth seeing.
