Richard William LoCascio

Following is the obituary for RICHARD WILLIAM LoCASCIO, submitted for the family by the Harding Funeral Home in Westport.

.   .   .

Richard William LoCascio, a longtime resident of Fairfield, was received into God’s loving arms on Sept. 21, 2021. His loving wife of 29 years, Cynthia Ann (Lozyniak) LoCascio was by his side when he passed into Eternal Life.

Richard recently celebrated his 80th birthday. Born May 16, 1941, in Bronx, N.Y., to Anthony and Wanda (Clar) LoCascio, he grew up in the Bronx and attended Fordham Prep School, Fordham University where he earned his master’s degree in history and New Rochelle Teachers College where he earned his master’s degree in special education. Richard spent 35 years as a teacher in the Bronx and also served as a substitute teacher in Fairfield.

Richard was a true Renaissance Man with many talents and abilities. He loved to paint and draw, write poetry and play the saxophone, flute and keyboard. He was a 2nd-degree black belt in judo. He also loved nature and carefully tended to his garden, which brought him great joy. He and Cynthia traveled the world and had many wonderful adventures together, especially their annual trip to the Maine Coast.

Besides his devoted wife Cynthia, Richard leaves behind his adoring daughters, Michelle LoCascio of the Bronx and Andrea LoCascio of Greenwich; his dear sister Helen LoCascio of Stuart, Fla.; nieces Nicole and Laura Augenti and his loving nephews Casey, Jack and Peter Lozyniak. He is also survived by his two brothers-in-law, Andrew (Christine) Lozyniak of Easton, Richard (Tamye) Lozyniak of Isle of Palms, S.C., and his sister-in-law Wendy (Albert) Lozyniak of South Chittenden, Vt. He also leaves behind many other cousins whom he cherished.

Richard was truly a gentle soul who will be dearly missed by all.

Family and friends are invited to attend a service at St. Luke Church, 49 Turkey Hill Road, Westport, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to any cancer organization of your choice.
