Peter Aron

Following is the obituary for PETER ARON, submitted by his family.

________________________________

Peter Aron, 76, of Centreville, Va., and a former Westport resident, passed away with family by his side on Dec. 3, 2024, after battling a brief illness.

Pete was a beloved brother, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed tremendously by all who knew him.

Pete was predeceased by his parents, Hans and Ernestine Aron. He is survived by his daughter, Lindsey (Eric) Olson of Alexandria, Va., and son, Ross (Kristen) Aron of New York City, and grandchildren Drew, Owen, Charlotte, Henry, and Teddy. Pete is also survived by his brother, Fred Aron of Albany, N.Y.; niece, Samantha Aron of Albany, N.Y., and stepson, Tom Graham of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.

Pete was born in Klagenfurt, Austria, in 1948 and his family arrived in the United States in 1953, where they settled on Long Island, N.Y. Pete attended Seaford High School, where he excelled as an athlete, student and tuba player. Following high school, Pete attended Bucknell University, where he played on the football team and was the president of his fraternity, Sigma Chi.

After his graduation from Bucknell, he attended the University of Pittsburgh Law School and was on Law Review during his last year.

Pete then had a long career as a lawyer in New York City and Connecticut, later transitioning to various consulting and advisory positions before relocating to northern Virginia, where he finished his career.

Pete’s joy in life revolved around his role as father and grandfather. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren as they were the light of his life. He also loved to spend time with friends and family, and he proudly shared infinite stories about his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments and shenanigans to anyone who would listen.

Among his many qualities, Pete will be remembered for his generosity and profound desire to help those around him, but not want any recognition for his help.

Pete was an avid sports fan and had a particular passion for football and baseball. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Mets and New York Jets, which taught him early and often how to accept defeat with grace. Pete’s love for sports took on new meaning watching his children, and eventually grandchildren, excel on the sports fields. He also enjoyed music including the Eagles and Bob Seger.

He was a dear friend to many because of his genuine interest in and care for others. Pete will also be remembered for his ability to connect with anyone he met, his wit, sense of humor and profound intellect. Pete lived in the moment and always encouraged those around him to follow their dreams. He would be appalled that we wrote this much about him as he never took life too seriously.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date for close friends and family. In lieu of donating to the Human Fund, c/o George Costanza, please consider donating in Pete’s name to Bucknell University or Pioneer Baseball.

As Pete would say, “That’s one for you, sports fans.”
