An avid sailor, Giovanni spent his 20s successfully captaining sailboats in many regattas on the Caribbean Sea. This passion of sailing continued throughout his life as he loved spending time with family and friends on his sailboat on the Long Island Sound.

Giovanni also loved communicating globally and, as an amateur radio operator, won field day competitions by contacting hundreds of amateur radio operators worldwide.

He was happiest traveling with his family to Italy, St. Maarten, Clearwater, Fla., and anywhere there was a warm, beautiful beach. When at home, he enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and fig and lemon trees.

Giovanni is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Concetta (Tina) of Westport; his daughter, Venerina (Rina) Greco and husband Thomas of Guilderland, N.Y.; his daughter, Alicia Mioli and husband Joseph Mulay of Hoboken, N.J.; his two grandchildren, Louis Greco of Guilderland, N.Y., and Victoria Greco and husband Justin Valente of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; his brother, Santo Mioli and his wife Sabina of Mamaroneck, N.Y.; his brother, Joseph Mioli of Westport; his brother, Carmelo Mioli and his wife Carrie of Westport; his sister, Rita Carolini of Harrison, N.Y.  He is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
