WESTPORT — Several local projects were allocated funding Friday by the State Bond Commission.

Money approved for Westport projects, according to state Sen. Ceci Maher, D-26, includes:

  • $146,817, which will reimburse the Police Department for purchasing body-worn and dashboard cameras/recording equipment and related data storage costs.
  • $2.5 million, for improvements, repairs and construction at Sherwood Island State Park. The allocation will pay for paving and drainage upgrades, as well as a new maintenance facility and related improvements.

“Aiding our local police in acquiring important equipment provides additional safety for our police force and residents,” Maher said in announcing the allocations.

“Sherwood Island State Park is a local treasure, and this new, extensive financial support for the park’s upkeep and maintenance is a great investment in our community,” added the legislator, who is a candidate for re-election in November.
