WESTPORT — Fares will not be charged to ride Wheels2U Westport buses from Dec. 26-29, the Westport Transit District’s holiday “gift” to the community, transit officials said.

Free rides on Wheels2U shuttles can be scheduled on-demand by passengers to and from the town’s railroad stations from Tuesday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Dec. 29. There is no service Christmas or New Year’s days. Rides are arranged via the Wheels2U app, which can be downloaded by clicking here.

Wheels2U buses run weekdays from 5:45 to 10 a.m. and from 4 to 9:30 p.m. A ride should be requested about 20 minutes before pickup is expected.

“We are pleased to be able to once again offer this gift to Westport residents …,” Peter Gold, co-director of the Westport Transit District, said in the announcement. “We hope to make the holidays a bit brighter for all. Just take our convenient Wheels2U service to or from your door and the Saugatuck or Greens Farms train stations.”
