WESTPORT — The annual curbside leaf collections by the Department of Public Works gets underway Nov. 7.

After the townwide program launches Monday, Nov. 7, collection of leaves left at street curbsides will continue through Monday, Dec. 5.

Leaves should be placed in biodegradable bags near the curb, according to DPW officials. Leaves in plastic bags, which cannot be composted, will not be picked up.

People who live on private streets must place leaves behind the curb of an intersecting town road.

Leaf collections are not scheduled, but will take place as DPW schedules allow, according to the announcement.
