WESTPORT — A Westport police officer is getting kudos for a “fowl” deed.
Officer Dominique Carr rescued a barred owl found injured on a local road over the weekend, according to Wildlife in Crisis, a Weston-based animal rescue and conservation group.
The bird is one of four injured owls, apparently hit by cars, that were turned over to the organization for care in a 24-hour period, according to a post on group’s Facebook page.
The barred owl rescued by the officer “is suffering from head trauma and will recover in a few weeks. For now, he is resting comfortably,” Wildlife in Crisis said.
