WESTPORT – After consecutive wins, the Wreckers faced the winless Black Nights of Stamford last night with a jaunty, confident smile.
That smile broadened as Staples’ QB Ryan Thompson connected to his favorite target, wide-out Nick Armentano, from 25 yards out for Staples’ first of five consecutive scoring drives.

Thompson had a dominant performance, hitting Armentano for another TD and also passing TDs to seniors Jake Yarish, JT Shapiro and Benji Titlebaum. The rest of the offense hummed all game long. Thompson threw no interceptions and his backup Caleb Smith tossed a TD to Titlebaum late in the game. On the ground, senior Captain and RB Tanner Conners dominated early, scoring twice in the first quarter.

On the defensive end, seniors Guy Harizman and George Engels led the way and came in clutch on multiple plays with big tackles in all four quarters. However, this was a true team effort — even special teams scored, on a Benji Titlebaum kickoff return in the first quarter.
Final: Staples 54- Stamford 0 .
Staples hopes to keep its winning streak alive as it travels next week to Norwalk.
