WESTPORT–Music lovers at Westport School District’s Jazz and Java concert on Feb. 4 will have the chance to purchase the creative works of the Bedford Middle School Art Collective in support of the Homes with Hope food pantry.

The districtwide jazz concert begins at 7 p.m. in Bedford Middle School, 88 North Ave., Westport. The artwork merchandise – tote bags, T-shirts, ceramic pins and more – will go on sale before the show, at 6:15 p.m.

“Our students are learning that creativity and compassion go hand in hand,” said Art Collective advisor Cecily Anderson. “This partnership with Homes with Hope reflects Bedford’s long tradition of service and the pride our students take in helping others.”

Bedford Middle School has held food drives for Homes with Hope, a Westport-based organization, for more than 20 years. This year’s initiative is aimed at deepening the connection.

Items for sale will include tote bags and T-shirts stamped with designs created by the students, and ceramic pins depicting foods such as eggs, pizzas and cherries. A vending machine will dispense limited-edition original “mini prints” created by students.

“This (vending machine) concept was introduced as part of a broader conversation about contemporary art practices, including the growing use of vending machines and interactive systems as artistic platforms in museums and galleries,” Anderson said.
